significant public buildings. The last wooden Governor&#8217;s Office building burnt down in 1971. This three-storey building housed various offices, including Political Headquarters and the Registrar&#8217;s Office. Gobernaci\u00f3n del Guayas is one of the city&#8217;s most historically and culturally important buildings, as it houses the President of the Republic&#8217;s highest representative in the province.
